Born in Hanover on September 13, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Walter C. and Estella Adams Kale.
Mrs. Newman retired in 1974 as an Office Manager from one of Hanover's former businesses after 34 years of service. Mrs. Newman was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She graduated from Delone Catholic High School with the first graduating class in 1941.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane McMaster and husband James of Hanover; five sons, James Earl Newman and wife Dawne of Red Lion, Nicholas Wayne Newman and wife Darlene of Hanover, Ronald Joseph Newman and wife Lora of Hanover, Earl Henry Newman II and wife Deborah of York, and Patrick John Newman and wife Barbara of Hanover; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Francis X. Kale and J. Philip Kale, both of Hanover. She was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover. Viewing will be Thursday at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover from 6 to 8 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 7:45 p.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt will serve as Celebrant. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5055 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA 17331. Serving as Pallbearers will be her grandsons: James F. McMaster, John W. McMaster, Michael P. McMaster, Christopher B. Newman, Douglas M. Newman, David A. Newman, James E. Newman, Jr. and Daniel J. Newman.
