Gene M. Hunter, 70, McLeansboro died May 14 at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion, Ill.
He was a retired farmer and Korean War veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Dixon Hunter, five sons and daughters in law; Gene Morris Hunter Jr., of National City, Calif., Lester Paul and his wife Melanie of Granite City, Charles Anthony and Donna of Poseyville, Donald Lee and wife, Robin Wren of Pasadena, Texas, Raymond and his wife, Cindy of Granite City; Four daughters and sons in law, Sharon L. and Troy Philips of Eldon, Mo., Mary Ann and John Minder of Enfield, Eileen Viola and Robert Summerford of Longview, Texas and Donna Mae and Gary Forgy, also of Longview; seven sisters June Marie Splittroff of Poseyville, Lolabelle Brewer of Jacksonville, Doralee Barrett of Lawrenceville, Hilda Mae Alexander of Bethalto, Mary Sheff of Godfrey, Shirley Kulencamp of Chesterfield and Lucille Skinner of Madora, Ill. 24 grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.
Burial will be at the Hopewell Cemetery near McLeansboro. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 106.
