Joseph was ill for several weeks and during that time the circuit priest from Crete, Nebraska administered the Last Rites. But there was no priest in the area to officiate at the burial services. The coffin was made by ripping floorboards from the upstairs of the newly-built Provencher home. The land belonged to Joseph Provencher, brother of Delina Bergeron, and the only person in the group who owned his land. The others were homesteaders.

Gravesite Details
A small family cemetery four miles east of Hastings on 12th Street Road. Unfortunately the cemetery was plowed over many years ago and now is marked only by a historical marker along the edge of the field.
