Willis G. "Bill" Thomas Sr., 67, died Wednesday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Gainesville following a brief illness.
A native of Syracuse, N.Y., he had lived in Interlachen for 22 years, coming from Marathon, N.Y. He was a retired TV technician. He was a member of Johnson Community Church, an Army veteran of World War II, a life member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 56 in Palatka and a life member of Woodworth-Webb American Legion Post 293 in Interlachen, a member of the Lions Club and Lachen-Squares, both in Interlachen, a member of the Gator Twirlers in Gainesville and he formerly worked at Storters Printing Co. in Gainesville.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Woodworth Thomas of Interlachen; two sons, David Willis Thomas of High Springs and Willis Graham Thomas Jr. of Hollister; two daughters, Genevieve Hilliard of Starke and Patricia Deel of Interlachen; three brothers, H. Edson Thomas, William Garvin, both of Orwell, N.Y., and Roger Garvin of Pulaski, N.Y.; five sisters, Eldora Reynolds and Kathryn Potter, both of Orwell, N.Y., Bernetta Williams and Delores Reese of Lakeland, and Elaine Castor of Adams, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Johnson Community Church with the Rev. Nathaniel Jones officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Rural cemetery in Oswego, N.Y. Woodworth-Webb American Legion Post 293 in Interlachen will conduct full military rites.
