Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Frances (Pollock) Hodges, his son Charles H.M. (Chuck) Hodges Jr. his two daughters Wendy Jane Gagne and her husband Steven Gagne and Sandra Lee Martins. Three grandchildren, Charles H.M. (Chucky) Hodges III and his wife Jennifer Hodges, Kenneth D. Martins and Gregory S. Hodges and one great granddaughter Samantha L. Hodges; and several nieces and nephews.
Charlie was Freetown’s first full time barber, a cranberry grower in Lakeville and Acushnet with his ” bride ” Frances and at the time of his retirement was a supervising tree surgeon for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts DOT.
He was a veteran of the US naval services and served during the Korean War. He was stationed on the USS Midway, USS Llyod Thomas and USS Woodson.
A burial service will be held on Wednesday January 23, 2019, at 10:30 AM, at the Chace Cemetery, Chace Road East Freetown, Massachusetts and will be followed by a Celebration of life at the East Freetown VFW, 89 Middleboro Road East Freetown, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to your favorite charity.
