Verdie Farmer, 73, of Murphysboro, died Saturday at the home of her daughter in Carbondale. She was a former Mt. Vernon resident. Funeral services for Mrs. Farmer will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Johnston Funeral Home in Whittington, with Rev E. A. Sommers officiating. Burial will be in Kirk cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p. m. today Mrs. Farmer was born August 8, 1899, in Franklin county, the daughter of Dr. John E. and Lavina (McKenney) Clinton. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Gwen Nolan, Carbondale a brother, Harley Clinton, Whittington; four sisters, Mrs. Thelma Whittington, Whittington, Mrs. Carrie Shaffer, Joliet, Mrs Evelyn Beasley, Sesser, and Mrs. Flo Bennett, Union Grove,Wisc.; and three grandchildren.
