Sylvia Lorraine Spencer, 84, of Rocky Mount, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia Wade Woods and James William Thomas Woods; brothers, William Woods, Bernard Woods, Wilbert Woods, Herman Woods, JW Woods Jr. (known as Junior); and sisters, Ada Young, Jerusa Peters, and Virginia Whitaker. Surviving are her sister, Ruby Worley; and brother, Frank Woods; son and daughter-in-law, Dickie and Dee Arrington; son and girlfriend, Noel Arrington and Lorie Demers; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Jenny Arrington. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Richard Arrington and wife Kristie, Jennifer Corbin and husband Chris, Justin Arrington, Sam Arrington, Mac Arrington, Chad Arrington and Kelly Arrington. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces; and nephews including a special niece, Margaret Gonzalez.
Sylvia retired from M&W Windows and loved spending time with her family and friends, feeding and watching birds, growing flowers, and was a fan of The Andy Griffith Show, Bob Ross Painting, and The Lawrence Welk Show.
Funeral Services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014 with Pastor Mark Griffith officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
