WATERBURY — Ms. Stephanie A. Hunter, 71, of Laval Street, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 22, 2014.

Ms. Hunter was born April 7, 1943, in Waterbury, a daughter to the late Delmon C. and Marjorie (Dunham) Wade. She was educated in the Waterbury public school system, graduating from Crosby High School, Class of 1961. During her earlier years, she was employed by Benn Russ Watch Factory and then Technipower, where she worked until her retirement after 43 years of dedicated service.

Under the leadership of Pastor Mills, she was a mother of Living Water Ministry in Torrington. Stephanie was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to gospel and country music as well as playing pinochle and watching Western movies. She was a devoted mother. She adored and loved her children and grandson unconditionally. She was a loving, caring, giving woman who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ms. Hunter leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children, Nickie (Gerald) Riddenhour and William (Annette) Hunter, all of Waterbury; one grandson, Andre A. Hunter of Waterbury; one sister, Mardelle (John) Ruffin of Waterbury; a host of nieces and nephews, including nephew Anthony Wade, whom she raised as her son, cousins, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by four brothers, Delmon Wade, Ronald Wade, Brinkley Wade and Theodore Wade, and two sisters, Claudette Delgado and Ann Parks.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2014, at Zion Baptist Church, 137 Pearl St. Burial will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hour will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
