Donald Dean Hummel was born
May 6, 1930 in Odebolt, to Loren Guraey
Hummel and Jeanette Mae Keller
Hummel. He completed the eighth grade
and then became employed as a farm
hand.
On Oct. 21, 1952 he was inducted
into the U. S. Armed Forces. He was
discharged Nov. 9, 1954.
Donald married Dorothy Marie
Pfeiffer at Sac City, on Oct. 28, 1951.
They lived in the Sac City and Storm
Lake area all their lives. He worked on
Holger Grau's farm for 21 years before
retiring in September of 1993. He enjoyed
watching television, expecially
westerns.
Preceding him in death were his
parents, two sisters, Cora and Martha;
four brothers, Milo, Glen, Harold and
Huber.
Survivors include his wife of 61
years, Adelia; two sons, James and his
wife, Elinor and Thomas Frederic, all of
Albert City; a daughter, Catherine and
her husband Les Abrams, Bartlesville,
Okla.; seven grandchildren, Sarah and
her husband, Joe Donaldson, Iowa City;
Christina Roberts, Garden City, Kan.;
Philip Roberts, Albert City; Randy Roberts
and his wife, Val, Tacoma, Wash.;
Rhonda and her husband, Jerry Russell;
Bryce Roberts and his wife, Vickey,
Albert City; and Robbie and her husband,
Dan Howe, Des Moines; three
great-grandchildren, Izac Roberts, Trish
and Kyle Roberts; and a sister-in-law,
Myrtle Roberts.
