Edward Albert (Billy) Sundy, born to Robert Lee and Mattie Elizabeth Faircloth Sundy Oct. 16, 1917, passed away August 31, 2003 at Life Care Center of Orange Park where he had been a resident for 5 years. Prior to that the family residence was on Orlando Avenue in Jacksonville 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st. wife Mary Louise Dowling, sisters Mary Louise King and Bessie Leona Sundy. Brothers James Lee and Robert Calvin (Rod) Sundy. He is survived by wife Leita Burt Howell Sundy, Sons Robert Mitchell (wife Wylene) and Edward Albert Jr (wife Cheryl), Step-son Rocky Wayne Howell (wife Anna), Grandchildren Tammy Lee Sundy Walters, Robert Mitchell Jr., Edward Albert III, Michael Joseph and Teresa Christine Sundy Sokol as well as several great grandchildren all of this area, A sister Margaret Elizabeth Hall (husband Robert deceased) of Douglas, GA and brother John Roy Sundy (wife Kathleen deceased) of Altamonte Springs, FL. and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

He enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corp in 1933 where he served until 1937, building roads all over Georgia. He became a Merchant Marine, certified out of the Port of Jacksonville for a short time in 1937. He then joined the Police Force of Waycross Georgia serving that community until enlisting in the United States Navy in 1943. After receiving an honorable discharge in June 1945, he engaged in a motor freight career spanning 45 years with contacts nationwide and international with several stateside offices, retiring in 1991. He and his wife became members of the Wingate Road Baptist Church in February 1997.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday September 4th from 6-8 P.M. at Eternity Funeral Home, 1650 Art Museum Drive. Graveside Service will be held on Friday September 5, at 2:00 P.M. at Jacksonville Memory Gardens on Blanding Blvd. Funeral arrangements by Eternity Funeral Home.
