John M. Mounts, 71, of Breaks, died Tuesday, August 23, 1994 in Buchanan General Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Louisa, Ky., but had been a resident of Buchanan County for 53 years. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of WWII, a member of American Legion Post 164, a retired miner for Harman Mining Corp., and a member of UMWA Local 7025. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Mullins Mounts, Breaks; one daughter, Nelladine Johnson, Tucker, Ga.; three sons, Jerry Owens, Frank Lockhart, Joe Lockhart, all of Breaks; one sister, JoAnna Bryant, Roanoke; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, August 25, 1994 at 11 a.m. at the Breaks Church of Christ with Jerry Edwards and Sam Casebolt in charge. Burial will follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock. A military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Post 164 and VFW Post 7360 of Grundy. The body will be taken to the Breaks Church of Christ, Wednesday at 6 p.m. where an evening service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
