James Orlando Logan was born in Wabash, Indiana, and moved to Rock Island in childhood. He lived there until 1894, when he and his family moved to Texas. They left Texas after the Galveston Disaster, and moved to Davenport, Iowa, where James died. From age 17 he was with the Rock Island Railroad until 1901, when he went with the D.R.I. and N.W. Railroad until his death. He had six children: John A., Raymond J., William, Paul, Bessie, and Clara.
