God reached down to take her hand and she responded when he called her name.
Lois Nadene Powell (Brollier) Rowe (88) of Big Bear Lake passed away peacefully on April 17, 2014. Born on April 28, 1925 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to William Ernest and Odie Ola Powell, she was the eldest child of three sisters and one brother. Her family relocated to California in 1932.
Lois graduated from Pomona High School in 1945 and married her first husband, Buster Brollier, in 1946. They had three children, Janette, Judy Gayle and Howard. They moved to the Big Bear Lake area and purchased The Navajo, a combination Bar, Restaurant and Hotel. She worked in the restaurant during the day and sang in the bar at night. .
Lois loved to sing. As a child she sang with her sisters and brother in a small family group known as Little Texas Paul and his Yodeling Sisters. She was passionate about her singing and on several occasions performed on the Lawrence Welk Show, sang with Andy Anderson and many other Country Western Bands.
Lois was baptized, along with her brother Paul L. Powell, at the First Baptist Church in Big Bear Lake on June 18, 1994. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and in High School she played on a City wide girls softball team.
Lois met her second husband, Roger Rowe, and they were married in 1975. They resided in Torrance, CA until his death in 1986 at which time she moved back to her home in Big Bear Lake. She spent her final days in the loving care of Vandelon Homecare in Hemet, CA.
Lois was preceded in death by her ex-husband Buster Brollier, husband Roger Rowe, Father William E. Powell, Mother Odie Ola Powell, Sister Betty Joyce Watson, brother Paul L. Powell, half sister Dorothy Prince, niece Donna Verbick Lunsford, niece Doris Prince and brother-in-law James A. Verbick. She is survived by her daughter, Janette and son-in-law Randy Hartje of Tucson, Arizona, her daughter Judy Gayle Brollier of Rialto, CA, her son, Howard and daughter-in-law Glady Brollier of Temecula, CA, a sister, Louise Verbick of Grand Terrace, CA, nieces, nephews and several grandchildren (Stephanie Bogart, Drew Cannioto, Mary Plemmons, Shyloh Sikoff, Jack James Severson), great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Family and friends are invited to express their condolences and say their final farewells to Lois at her services on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10:00am at the Green Acres Memorial Park and Mortuary located at 11715 Cedar Avenue, Bloomington, CA 92316. Interment will immediately follow at the Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S. Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275 (Plot 366, Space A) with Lois's final resting place being by her husband Roger.
