Dorothy Dunn was born on July 31st, 1900 in Beaverhead County, Bannack, Montana. During the afternoon of August 7th, 1916 Dorothy Dunn, her cousin Fern Dunn, and their friend Ruth Wornick were playing in a pond at nearby Grasshopper Creek when they stepped off of a ledge into some deep water. Although a young boy, Smith Paddock managed to pull the three girls out of the water. Dorothy had already drowned. Dorothy spent most of her life living at Hotel Meade where her mother Sarah Dunn also worked. She died on August 7th, 1916. She was laid to rest and buried in Bannack Cemetery which is now a ghost town located in Beaverhead County, Montana.
