Thomas F. Brooks died at his home Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. He had been ill for a year or more which terminated finally in paralysis of the throat. For a few months he was fed by means of a tube inserted into the throat, but the muscles finally closed. For the last seventeen days he had swallowed no nourishment.
Mr. Brooks represented the older generation of that family which is so numerous in Carroll County. His grandfather, Henry Brooks, started for this country in 1818, but died on ship board and was buried at sea. The family came on and settled in the woods in Union Township and built a cabin. The deceased was born April 9, 1826, and was married in 1847 to Elizabeth Crozier. They lived in Union township until the spring of 1883 when they moved to Carrollton. Mrs. Brooks died August 29, 1884, and the following year he was married to Miss Margaret Stubbins of Cadiz, who survives him. Mr. Brooks was a member of the M. E. Church. In his work he was industrious and as a business man and dealer was careful. He accumulated a handsome competency. Funeral at 1 this afternoon from the residence.
