Services for Chester C. Brooks, 62, of 2710 8th 1/2 Street, Rock Island, Illinois, who died yesterday morning in Lutheran Hospital, Moline, will be at one tomorrow afternoon in Esterdahl Mortuary, Moline. Rev. Ellis Youngdahl will officiate, and burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from seven until nine this evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Brooks was born in Hillsdale, Illinois. He is the son of Frank Percy Brooks and Gerite (Hill) Brooks. His step-mother (from his fathers second marriage, after his wife passed away) is Mabel (Stage) (Gierhart) Brooks. He married Juanita Maxine Smith on 27 January 1941 in Scott County, Iowa.
He operated a sawmill for forty years in Hillsdale. He moved to Rock Island some six years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Maxine (Smith) Brooks and their four daughters and one son: Mrs. Rita Risden of Milan; Mrs. Alice (Leonard) Womack of East Moline, Mrs. Karen Graham of Moline, Ruby (at home) and Charles (at home).
Surviving children from his first marriage to Josephine Ana Mangler are Mrs. Joan Fitzpatrick of Maquoketa, Iowa and Donald of Maquoketa, Iowa.
Also, surviving are 14 grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Ruby (Elmer) Jacobs of Erie and a brother, Homer Brooks of Moline, Illinois.
