Arthur Jesse Hobson
Feb. 2, 1909 to De. 12, 1995

Arthur Jesse Hobson, 86, of Stratford, died of congestive heart failure on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Boone County Hospital in Boone.

He was born to Manford and Dorothy (Berkshire) Hobson on Feb. 2, 1909, in Champaign, Ill.

On Jan. 3, 1933, he married Ferne Arlene Ludwig in Bethany, Mo. He worked as a farmer and had lived most of his life in Story County. He also lived at Lead Hill, Ark., from the years 1968 to 1991.

Survivors include a daughter, Iris A. Grayson of Tulsa, Okla; a son, Lauren A. Hobson of Boone; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruby Otto of Nevada and Rosie Crum of Marshalltown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in May 1989, a brother and two sisters.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 14, at Chet Ryan Mortuary, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada with Pastor jack Becker officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
