Helen was born on May 19, 1925 in Arnold, NE to Leslie A. and Sophia (Beyer) Crow. She attended school in Arnold and graduated in May of 1943. She married Bill Hickenbottom in 1947 in North Platte, NE. The couple moved to Callaway in 1949 and farmed in the area for many years. Bill passed away in 1991. Helen married Gerald Dorris in 1999 in LeMoyne, NE. Helen enjoyed Square Dancing, camping, playing slots at the casino, playing cards, knitting and crocheting. She made several afghans and baby caps that she donated to many organizations over the years. She was a member of the Kearney Newcomers and also the Birthday Belles in Callaway. Helen was a long-time member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include her children, Jerry (Kathy) Hickenbottom of Kearney, Dick (Joyce) Hickenbottom of Holdrege and Sandra (Dick) Remmenga of Kearney; sisters, Kate Henry of Callaway and Sharon Leonard of North Platte; grandchildren, Carrie (Jeremy) Gumaer, Tim (Jenn) Hickenbottom, Crystal (Jake) Schuman, Chris (Megan) Hickenbottom, Danielle Jauregui, Brad (Pa Thoua) Remmenga and Matt (Ellie) Remmenga; 11 great grandchildren; several brothers and sisters in law and other extended family.
Helen was preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Hickenbottom and Gerald Dorris; sisters, Eloise Walker and Burdette Deterding; brothers, Bob Crow and Darrell Crow; grandson, Christopher Burns
