Leroy William Ryder, Sr., 80, of Warm Springs, fell asleep in the arms of the Lord Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Born June 4, 1932, he is the son of Mabel B. Martin Ryder of Warm Springs and the late Charles William Ryder.

Leroy retired from the County of Bath as Landfill Operator and was a logger for many years prior to that. He liked to hunt, fish, ginseng, dig ramps, ride to Hidden Valley and "Slate Holler" as well as time spent "shooting the breeze" with his closest friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Breanna Grace Woodzell.

Leroy leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Marguerite Louise (Hickman) Ryder. Along with his wife and mother, he is survived by his children, Leroy William Ryder, Jr. of Hot Springs; Doris Bare and husband, Rocky of Bentwood; David Ryder, Sr. of Warm Springs; Billy Ryder, Sr. and wife, Sherry of Warm Springs; Nora Gibson and husband, Ashley of Burnsville; Larry Ryder and wife, Yvonne of Warm Springs; Wanda Bradley and husband, David of Hot Springs; Cendy Moran and husband, David of Warm Springs and William "Bucky" Hickman of Warm Springs.

Also left to cherish his memories are his grandchildren, Ryan and Heather Ryder, Megan and Patrick Ford, David Jr. and Zackary Ryder, Shannon Boguess, Billy Ray, Jr. and Joshua Ryder, Amanda Strickler, Kristina and Rachael Gibson, Aaron Ryder, Morgan Woodzell, Tyler and Tanner Bradley, William, Nathaniel, Victoria, and Matthew Moran. He also leaves behind eight great grandchildren.

His surviving siblings are Betty Robertson and husband, Calvin, Sr. of Warm Springs; Larry Ryder of Warm Springs; Phoebe Stanley and husband, Hal of Summit, TX; Judy Ryder of Warm Springs; Ella Rexrode and husband, Frank of Warm Springs and Charles Ryder and wife, Sandy of Warm Springs; along with a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Chimney Run Church of the Brethren, Warm Springs, Virginia, with visitation commencing at 10:30 a.m. and a service to follow at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013, with the Pastor Billy Robertson officiating.

Mr. Ryder's grandchildren will serve as active and honorary pallbearers.

In addition to the period of visitation, the family will also receive friends at the home of Cendy Moran, 16235 Sam Snead Hwy, Warm Springs, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be sent to Hot Springs Rescue Squad, PO Box N, Hot Springs, VA 24445.
