Charlotte Steele, 67, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at her residence.
She was born December 5, 1946 in Gary, IN to the late Wilber Hodge and Mary Francis McCosland Hodge. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Comstock in 2007 and her husband, Larry W. Steele Sr. (Pathfinder) in 2007.
Mrs. Steele graduated from Calumet High School in Gary in 1965. She later graduated from Swedish American Hospital School of Nursing in Rockford, IL in 1968. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Madisonville. She has worked in a number of hospitals and nursing homes across the country. She did health exams for insurance companies since 1995. She had to retire in 2012 to fight the final battle. (Colon cancer-stage four)
She is survived by three sons; Michael (Emma) Steele of Portage, In; Larry W. (Angie) Steele, Jr of Madisonville; and Brian J. (Angela) Steele of Madisonville; twelve grandchildren; three sisters, Jacqueline Smithers of Clarksville, IN; Deborah Rukes of Mason, MI; and Kathleen Hodge of Alexandria, VA; six brothers, David Hodge of Michigan City, IN; James Hodge of Elkton, KY; Charles Hodge of Triangle, VA; Jonathon Hodge of Taylors, SC; Stephen Hodge of Gilbert, AZ; Thomas Hodge of United Arab Emirates; two uncles, Harold Hodge of Marion, KY and Donald Brudge Hodge of New Chicago, IN; and one aunt, Mildred Matthews of Chamois, MO; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 28, 2014 at Grace Baptist Church on Lenin Road with Pastor Lawrence Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville at 12:00 P.M.
