She had lived most of her life in Madison County except for 10 years in Boulder, Colorado. She started working for the Madison County Sheriff in 1970 and retired in 1987. She worked 10 years at the Boulder County Sheriff's Office in Boulder, Colorado. She had previously worked at Ben Franklins, Northwest Bell, ASCS Office and the skating rink. Rose had been a charter member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset, and was a 1943 graduate of Winterset High School.
Rose E. Moorhead is survived by her son, Larry J. (Merilyn) Moorhead of Winterset and grandchild Justin L. Moorhead.
Rose E. Moorhead was preceded in death by her parents Clark & Mabel (Johnson) Simmons, husband, James Moorhead; brothers, Vernon Simmons and Charles Simmons; sisters, Helen Fulton, June Friend, and infant Fay; and uncle Lester Johnson.
