He served more than 31-years in the United States Army. Upon retirement he worked at a Ford dealership in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 2012, he made his home in central Texas.
He was predeceased by his wife to whom he was wed in 1979, Sorianosos Maria A. Nugas, and by his father.
Lucas is survived by four children, twelve grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother.
