William Morrison was born to Irish parents Hugh Strong Morrison and Sarah J. Lear in June of 1843 in Prince Edward County, Ontario. He was one of seven children. In 1858 he married Jane Hobson. Together they had eight children. William farmed all his life and his family were Wesleyan Methodists.
