SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at Eastside Baptist Church at 4045 Commercial St. in Springfiled for Carl A. Givens of Springfield. He died Dec. 31 of age-related causes at age 90.
He was born June 28, 1916, in Kidder, Mo., to Myrtle and Walter Givens. He married Betty Kinney on June 30, 1990, in Springfield.
Givens served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945 and also in the merchant marine services. He worked as a fire stoker and a truck driver, owned and operated a logging business in Idaho and was a commercial fisherman in Winchester Bay.
Survivors include a son, Lonnie of Springfield; two daughters, Debbie Cantrell of Springfield and Maryanne Darnell of Baker City, six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. His wife died previously.
