Calloway Francis McQueen was the son of Cora Roberta Heath and her first husband Francis McQueen/aka Ray B McQueen who married on 16 Apr 1895 in Deepwater, Henry Co MO adjacent to where Cora Roberta's family were living in Benton Co MO. His father Francis McQueen aka Ray B McQueen (what marriage record said) died before 1900 and Cora was widowed with a young child. She moved in with her mother Pauline and her mother's 4th husband George Hoesten Hatfield in Benton Co MO. Later the family moved out of MO into California where other members of the Heath family were already living. Calloway Francis McQueen's grandfather William Jonas Heath was already living there, having also left MO. He is in the 1910 census living at age 14 with his widowed mother Cora Roberta McQueen in O'Neal Fair Oaks Twp, San Joaquin CA (next door is his grandmother Pauline Jane Hatfield and her husband George Hoeston Hatfield). His mother Cora was working as a laundress in a steam laundry.

Calloway Francis McQueen married Ruth M. Perry b. 23 Oct 1899 CA d. 21 Nov 1980 San Francisco, CA. She was the daughter of Joanna Long born 8 Oct 1870 in Arkansas d. 26 June 1957 CA and William H. Perry born 6 Sept 1868 Michigan d. 10 Sept 1950 San Joaquin Co CA, who married in 1896.

Her maternal grandmother was Ellen McCormick from Arkansas who is in the 1910 census living in Calaveras Co CA and 1930 in San Joaquin Co CA. Ruth's death certificate listed her father's surname as Perry. In the 1940 census she was living in Sacramento, CA listing occupation as 'renting rooms.' She did not remarry as she died as Ruth M. McQueen.

They had two children together. One born before they divorced (which was before the Jan 1920 census), and one born a few years later. In that Jan 1920 census Calloway is living back with his mother Cora at age 25, indicates he is divorced and has with him his toddler son, Shirley H. McQueen. His wife Ruth McQueen at age 18 (indicating divorced) has moved to San Francisco where she is lodging working as a sales clerk in a dry goods store.

Shirley H. McQueen b. 16 Jan 1918 San Joaquin, CA. d.4 May 1988 Independence, Jackson Co MO. m. Lois Lucille Smith b. 22 Jan 1925 d. 5 May 1989 MO. Mr. Shirley H. McQueen was a chiropractor.

Ethel Roberta McQueen b. 16 June 1924 San Joaquin Co CA married 25 June 1944 Jack (John) Delevan Knapp in San Joaquin, CA. He was the son of Seaman Franklin Knapp b. 28 May 1892 d. 12 Aug 1948 and Violet M. (Field) Knapp b. 1894 d. 1987 who married 19 June 1911 in Wellsboro, PA. They are both buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Watkins Glen, Schuyler Co NY.

Ethel Roberta McQueen in the 1930 census was living as a 'granddaughter' in household of Ellen McCormick age 86 b. Arkansas in O'Neal Twp, San Joaquin Co CA. Her mother Ruth (Perry) McQueen is not in the household, although her grandmother Joanna Perry is. On her marriage certificate her father was listed as Frank McQueen.

Appeared in Watkins Express, Watkins Glen,Schuyler County NY on June 21, 1944:
" Mrs. Ruth McQueen of Stockton, Calif. has announced the engagement of her daughter, Ethel Roberta McQueen to Jack Delevan Knapp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Seaman Knapp of this village. The wedding will take place at the First Presbyterian Church in Stockcon, CA. June 25. The bride-elect holds a responsible position with the Southern Pacific Railroad at Stockton, Calif. Mr. Knapp, a graduate of the Watkins Glen High School has been in the U.S. Navy for two years. He was in the Aleutians at at Kodial for several months. He holds a rating of Machinist Mate 2/c and is now stationed in Oakland, Calif."

In the 1930 census for O'Neal Twp, San Joaquin Co CA young Ethel McQueen was age 5 and living with her mothers family, listed as a ‘granddaughter' in household of Ellen McCormick age 86 b. Arkansas and also living in the household her grandmother JJoanna Perry age 59 b. Arkansas and an Ellen M. Look age 31 also listed as a granddaughter.

On his WWII draft registration card Calloway Francis McQueen listed his employment as owning his own business the "Mack Sign Shop' in Stockton, CA. Listed as who would know your address is a woman just listed as 'Grace' living at same address 431 South Grant, Stockton, CA.

He died of heart failure and chronic avitaminosis in French Camp, California. Spouse listed as Grace McQueen.

Cremains are located in Urn 7632 at San Joaquin County Crematory. This information found on Death Certificate.
