Benjamin John Hess, 26, of Prospect Street in Tiffin, died at 4:35 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
He was born Oct. 22, 1979, in Tiffin, to John D. and Victoria R. (Stahl) Hess, who survive in Tiffin.
Also surviving are: two brothers, Alvin and David Hess, both at home; a sister, Kristina Hess of Tiffin; paternal grandmother, Gertrude Hess of Tiffin; maternal grandfather, Alvin W. Stahl of Attica; a nephew, Gaige Hess of Tiffin; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dewane Hess, and maternal grandmother, Madelyn Stahl.
Mr. Hess was a 1998 Columbian High School graduate and had worked at Arby's Restaurant in Tiffin. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin and the National Bowling League. An avid bowler, he loved to bowl with his buddies, Neil, Brad and Louie. He, along with his buddy Mark, was an avid NASCAR fan. Ben was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
The funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica with the Rev. Joseph Szybka celebrating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Tiffin.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, OH 44883 (419) 447-3113. There will be a wake at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral Mass Wednesday at the church.
