LORAIN – Kevin R. Calhoun, 50, of Lorain, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on May 3, 2011.
He was born in Lorain, Ohio on June 4, 1960 and was a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School and Norfolk State University in Virginia, where he excelled in Basketball. Mr. Calhoun was a star basketball player for Elyria Catholic in the late 1970's, earning MVP honors his senior season. He was a junior starter the year the team became Class AA district basketball champions in 1977. Mr. Calhoun was an independent Automobile Sales Consultant, traveling all across the United States. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elyria, Ohio. Mr. Calhoun enjoyed traveling and was an avid sports fan, he also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Calhoun will be sadly missed by his parents: Thelma and Leroy Calhoun both of Lorain, Oh., brothers: Gregory (Adriene) Calhoun of Stone Mountain, Ga., Dennis and Brian Calhoun both of Lorain, Oh., and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son in infancy: Kevin Jr., brother: Bobby Calhoun, cousin: Della Miller.
Friends may call Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Carter Funeral Homes, Inc. Chapel 127 W. Bridge Street, Elyria, Ohio. Services will be on Friday at 11 a.m. in the St. Mary's Catholic Church 320 Middle Avenue, Elyria, Ohio at 11 a.m. where Father Charles Dietrich will officiate services. At the request of family, there will be "NO VIEWING" at the church. Burial to follow immediately in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain, Ohio.
