Mrs Izora Smith, 58, died Thursday at her home in Hollis following a stroke. Services were held Saturday morning at 10 am with the Rev Grover Harris officiating. Burial was made at Dryden beside her late husband Oliver "Ollie" Smith. The Coley Funeral Home was in charge.
Mrs Smith was born at Gould on Oct 8, 1897 and had lived her entire life in this area. She owned and operated Smith Nursing Home and was active in Church and Civic affairs.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs Lowell Price; three sons, Thornton and Cecil of Hollis and Oliver of Amarillo, Texas, her Mother, Mrs Minnie Woodman who lives at the home address; two sisters, Mrs Carl Frazier of Whitehall, Illinois; Mrs Mamie Myers of Alton, Illinois and two brothers, Roy and Jess both of Alton, Illinois. There are five grandchildren.
Bearers include Glen Cleveland, Omar Church, James Charlton, Leroy Sanford, Truman Newberry and Leroy Ayers.
