Betty Adele Berges, 91, of Julesburg, CO passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 in Julesburg. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 25, 2014 at the Julesburg Christian Church at 11:00am with Pastors Alan Harris and Kerry Johnson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Betty Adele Spurrier was born September 3, 1922 in Basin, Wyoming to Bert and Doris Spurrier. Betty was always a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking, embroidery and crocheting. She spent many hours making tea towels stitched to perfection and pot holders crocheted the same way. All of her children and grandchildren were the beneficiaries of her handiwork. Betty and Ray were married in 1942 and Ray was in the Navy. Betty and Ray moved to Julesburg in the winter of 1949 and they had celebrated 25 years of marriage at the time of Ray’s death in May 1967. To this union were born 4 children that survive her today. Those children are Sandi Maahs, Jan Lomme, Lannie Weiss, and Randy Roth. On February 1977 Betty married Arvard Berges and they shared 37 years of marriage.
Betty is survived by four step-children, Carolyn Berges of Lincoln, NE, Ken (Mary) Berges of Julesburg, CO, Kathy (David) Timmerman of Ord, NE, and Dianne (Brian) Rewinkel of Casper, WY. In addition to her children she is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, & a host of family and loving friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Roth, father & mother Bert & Doris Spurrier, brothers, Richard and Robert Spurrier, sister Marion (Mame) Sevier, and grandson, Stacy Rewinkel
