Elizabeth Longeway was born in Hemmingford, Quebec, Canada on April 15, 1839 to Joseph and Deborah Covey Longeway. She was baptized in the Methodist church in Hemmingford, Huntingdon Co., Quebec on March 24, 1846 by Minister M. McDonald. Her parents were listed as Joseph and Deborah Longeway.

She married Robert John Clark. He was the son of Robert Clark and Martha Edgeworth.

The children of Robert John Clark and Elizabeth Longeway were:

1. William H. Clark who was born in Canada on June 6, 1859.
He was killed by lightning on 23 Jul 1881 when he was returning from a gold mining trip to Cripple Creek, Colorado with his father and a neighbor man. His father, Robert John Clark was in a different wagon with the neighbor man and was not harmed. He is buried in Partridge Cemetery in Partridge, Kansas.

2.Elizabeth Clark was born in Franklin, Quebec, Canada on April 14, 1863 and was baptized at the Franklin Centre Methodist Church in Huntingdon County, Quebec on April 20, 1863 by Minister Alfred Andrews. Her parents were listed as Robert Clarke and Betsey Longeway.

3.Robert John Clark was born in New York in 1867. He married Florence Caroline Spiva Mar. 6, 1890 in Partridge, KS. He died in Corpus Christi, Texas on Dec. 22, 1930 and is buried in the Enid Cemetery in Enid, Oklahoma.

4. Kathie Clark was born in Missouri in 1869.

5. Sarah Jane Clark was born in Kansas in Jan. 27, 1871. She married George Franklin Spiva on Nov. 9, 1900 in Partridge, Kansas. She died on Jul 21, 1949 and is buried in Timberlake Cemetery in Helena, Oklahoma.

6. Ella J. Clark was born in Kansas in 1875. She married (1) Herman Clem on October 16, 1895 in Hutchinson, KS (2) Edgar Sides. She died in 1956 and is buried Chelsea Cemetery in Chelsea, OK.

7. Hiram Ray Clark was born in Kansas on Feb. 3, 1877. He married Stella Angeline Bauman on May 29 1900.
He died Dec. 9, 1919 and is buried in Roosevelt Cemetery in Roosevelt, OK.

8. Elizabeth P. Clark was born 1880 in Kansas.
She died Sept. 8, 1895 in Partridge, Kansas.
The Hutchinson News reported that she died of epilepsy.

9. Mary Alice Clark was born in 1887 in Kansas. She died on Jul. 14, 1899 and is buried in Timberlake Cemetery in Helena, OK.


Robert and Elizabeth Clark moved to Kansas and were living in Scott Township in Bourbon County, Kansas with Robert Clark's mother Martha and his nephew Thomas Cleland during the 1870 census.

They were listed in the census in Reno County Kansas in 1880. Elizabeth's parents Joseph and Debbie Longeway had also relocated to Reno County,Kansas and were listed there in the 1880 census. Elizabeth's brother Henry Longeway and her sisters Nancy Jane and Lydia were living with Joseph and Debbie Longeway. The family of Joseph and Debbie Longeway later moved to Tuscola County Michigan where their death records can be found

In 1880, Elizabeth Clark's husband Robert bought eighty acres of land near Partridge in Reno County Kansas. In 1890, he completed a deed for an additional 160 acres under the Homestead Act of 1862 in Reno County, KS.

Elizabeth Clark died of consumption (tuberculosis) on October 6, 1896. A news article in the Hutchinson News on Oct. 8, 1896 stated that she was survived by two sons and three daughters. This news article also stated that Mr. Clark had died nearly three years before. She was buried in the Partridge Cemetery in Partridge, Reno, Kansas.
