Burton Aarestad

Burton was born March 3, 1925, in McHenry, ND, the son of John and Marie (Torrison) Aarestad. He grew up and attended school there. He graduated from McHenry School in 1943. He graduated from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks.

Burton worked in the family grocery store in McHenry during the summers while attending UND. He moved to Alaska in 1951, where he worked as a maintenance electrician, at radar sites and also worked on the oil pipeline. Upon learning he had cancer, he returned to North Dakota for treatment. He first made his home on a farm north of Fargo and then moved to Bethany Towers in Fargo. He died in the Bethany Home, Wednesday, January 29, 2003.

Burton loved to hunt and fish.

He is survived by two brothers, Elton (Judy), Hillsboro, OR; John, McHenry, ND; an aunt Olivia Miller, Fargo, ND, several cousins, and three nieces.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 3, 2003, at 2:00 pm in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McHenry, ND. Visitation will be Sunday, from 4:00 till 7:00 pm in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND, and one hour before services in the Church.

Interment will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery, McHenry, ND.
