Anita Pearl Irene Adney Searcy, age 87, of Dardanelle passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 in Tucson, AZ.

She was born July 17, 1926 near Chickalah, AR to Arthur Magellan Adney and Mary Etta Miller Adney.

"Neat" was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, James Lloyd Searcy; two sisters, Janet Rexene and Mary Davis Adney; and two brothers, Arthur Leroy and Jimmy Ray Adney.

She is survived by a brother, Jackie Eugene Adney; three daughters, Janis Diane Searcy, Janelle Searcy Menick and Janita Rexiene Searcy Hastings; four granddaughters, Janiece Michelle Fowler, Lana Franciene Lucus, Katharine Searcy Menick and Searcy Joyce Menick; and four great-grandsons.

Neat met James in Kansas City, MO, and they continued their romance throughout his time as a sailor on the U.S.S. Suwannee during World War II. They married April 27, 1946. After settling in Dardanelle, they opened the Melody Roller Rink, a well-known spot for family fun and entertainment that attracted patrons from all over Yell and neighboring counties.

Neat adored children and roller skating, so her role as Melody's resident instructor was a perfect fit. Her daredevil skating stunts continued well into her 60s!

Neat was also an accomplished dancer, musician and baker whose talents brought joy to many. Always willing to lend a helping hand to others, she was actively involved with the VFW Auxiliary and the Meals on Wheels program.

Family was of utmost importance to Neat, and she especially enjoyed hosting her out-of-state granddaughters for many summers filled with good food, games and laughter.

Her Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 26 at the Dardanelle Church of Christ, where Neat was a longtime member. Burial will be in Brearley Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ken Alexander, Ernie Thaxton, Darin Thaxton, David Reed, Don Hall and Jack Stephens. Honorary pallbearers were Lionelle Christy, Willie Christy and William Reed.
