Joyce was born on March 24, 1931 in rural Thurston, NE, the daughter of Huey and Doris (Milton) Duncan.
She grew up in the Thurston area and graduated from Thurston High School. She received her Teacher's Certificate from Wayne State College and taught country school for two years in rural Thurston County.
Joyce married Orrin Blair on February 7, 1954. The couple farmed in rural Thurston County until 1964, when they moved to rural Homer. Joyce worked at Dura-Pak for a while, but loved her job as a homemaker. Orrin passed away on March 20, 2004.
Joyce was a member of the Homer United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers and baking.
Joyce Blair, 83, of Homer, NE passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Regency Square Care Center in South Sioux City, NE.
Survivors include her children, Brenda (Rod) Reed of Homer, NE and Larry (Sandy) Blair of Homer, NE; grandchildren, Dawn (Rod) Boyle, Brian (Shelby) Reed, Rachel Blair and Hannah Blair; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin Duncan of Hubbard, NE; sisters-in-law, Ruby Duncan of Emerson, NE and Joan Blair of Wisner, NE; and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Huey and Doris Duncan; her husband, Orrin; brothers, LeRoy and Glen Duncan; and sisters, Dorothy Casey and Georgia Duncan.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm, with the family present at 6 pm on Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Homer United Methodist Church in Homer, NE with Rev. Richard Savage officiating. Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery in rural Homer.
