Tommy Burns, 88, of Callahan, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014. He was born in Pembroke, GA, but lived in Callahan most of his life.
Mr. Burns served in the U.S. Navy, was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God and retired from Jefferson-Smurfitt Paper Company after having served for 47 years in the paper industry.
He was preceded in death in 2006 by his wife of 59 years, Frances Thompson Burns. Survivors include his son, Tommy Dale Burns (Debbie); daughter, Glenda B. Stonecipher (Joe); 3 grandchildren, Chad Burns (Stephania), Jennifer Ashley (Rob) & Jason Burns and 2 great-grandchildren, Joseph Sykes-Burns & Jazmine Ashley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Evangel Temple Assembly of God, 5755 Ramona Blvd. with Pastor Garry Wiggins officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery (Gate #6) at 2 PM following the service. Arrangements by GIDDENS-REED FUNERAL HOME, Baldwin.
