Johann was a parochial school teacher in Posen and was a farmer in Mecan Township when he came to this country in 1852. He was influential in helping to establish Lutheranism in Princeton, and Marquette County, Wisconsin. He lived in Princeton the last years of his life in the home of Gottlieb and Ernestine (Schultz) Krueger.
Known children are: Ernst Adolph Schultz (1820 - 1912), Wilhelm Ferdinand Schultz (1822 - ), Pauline Auguste Schultz (Doege) (1828-1908), Carl August Schultz (1830 - ), Wilhelmina Bertha Schultz (Hasse) (1833- 1917), Johann Leopold Schultz (1835 - ), Mathilde Fredricke Schultz (1837 - ), Carl Friedrich Schultz (1839-1907), Ernestine Charlotte Schultz 1841-1907, Friedrich Rudolph Schultz (1844-1854).
