David was a man of wide ranging interests that included theology, history, genealogy, current affairs, reading, gardening, guns, and Chess. He used his keen intellect to gather and thoroughly examine information and was recognized by all that knew him as an expert source of information on many topics. He was never reticent about sharing his knowledge or his opinions and maintained communications with people all over the world.
He was a Man of God who never wavered in his absolute faith in God. Throughout his life, he willingly shared that faith with friends, family and casual acquaintances. He blended his intellectual knowledge with a simple faith that blessed everyone.
Throughout David's life, his family was of utmost importance to him. His love for them was unconditional. His integrity, faith, and keen wit served as a role model that will ensure him a lasting legacy. He was cherished by those who were lucky to have been loved by him.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Cleveland Rains.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 44 years, Gloria Ann Dyson Rains;
