A service will be held to celebrate Betty's life on Friday March 18, 2005 at 10am at Hartford Avenue church of Christ with Mr. Don Huddleston, officiating and Mr. Ed Lobaugh, assisting. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Oilton, Okla. in the Highland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home.
Betty Jo Mikeman was born on Oct. 31, 1925, in Oilton, Okla., one of three children born to Elmer and Arla (Brock) Mikeman. She attended Crow grade school and graduated from Oilton high school. On Jan. 8, 1942, Betty married Howard Carroll Hulsey in Drumright. The couple lived in Pampa, Texas; Augusta, El Dorado and St. John, Kansas before moving to Ponca City.
Betty enjoyed bowling, painting, crocheting and writing. She was an Oklahoma sports fan, supporting OU and OSU. Betty greatly enjoyed her grandchildren, family and friends. They were a very special part of her life. She was an active member of the Hartford Avenue church of Christ and participated in the Omaha group and several Bible studies.
Family members include her daughter, Jan Young and her husband Bill; one sister, Peggy Terrell and two grandchildren, Jami Coleman and her husband Scott and Joby Young and his wife Amber.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kenneth Mikeman.
Casket bearers will be Greg Terrell, Mike Hazlip, John Reynolds, Jim Eck, Joby Young, Scott Coleman and Carl Mikeman.
