He was born in DeFuniak Springs and had been a resident of Hawthorne for the past two years, coming from Palatka, where he had lived most of his life. he was a member of the Hawthorne Assembly of God. He enjoyed riding around and sightseeing. He was a committed family man.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Carnley and his father, Allen J. Carnley Jr.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Carnley of Hawthorne; five sons, Timothy Carnley of Interlachen, Jerry Carnley, Scott Carnley, Joe Carnley and Keith Carnley, all of Okeechobee; one daughter, Gail Comer of Palatka; his mother, Jeanette Carnley of Palatka; two stepsons, Jack Adcock of Okeechobeee and Scott Buttram of Pahoa, Hawaii; four stepdaughters, Sharon Williams of Henrietta, Okla., Carol Holman of Graham, Wash., Linda Sterling of Puyallop, Wash., and Diana Vanice of Sumner, Wash.; three brothers, Allen J. Carnley Jr. of Palatka, Paul Carnley of Mannville and Philip Carnley of Palatka; four sisters, Shirley Cochran of Jacksonville, Brenda Dear of Palatka, Beverly Holt of Hastings and Cynthia Ussery of Palatka; 25 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Rev. Lowell Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Okeechobee at a later date. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 27 Dec 2006.)
