Prussian officer and businessman, Danish general. Son of imperial captain Friedrich Kasimir Siegfried von Moltke (1730–1785) and his wife Anna Charlotte d'Olivet (1733–1785). Father of, among other children, General Field Marshal Helmuth Karl Bernhard von Moltke, and grandfather (through his son Adolf) of Field Marshall and Chief of the German General Staff Helmuth Johannes Ludwig von Moltke (1848–1916).
