Husband of Loretta Lynn. He was portrayed by actor Tommy Lee Jones in the 1980 Oscar Winning Movie "Coal Miners Daughter" based on the singer's 1976 autobiography. He died at their ranch which encompasses the entire town of Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Oliver Vanetta Lynn, also known as "Mooney," "Doolittle" and "Doo," was born in Butcher Hollow, near Paintsville, Kentucky. He was instrumental in getting Loretta started as a country and western singer while they were living in Washington state. After moving back to Tennessee her career took off and 'Doo', as Loretta called him, was content to stay on the farm with the kids while she was on the road. He always believed she had the voice to take her to stardom and was behind her and her career until his death. He died at the home he and Loretta shared on their farm in Hurricane Mills, Humphreys County, Tennessee.

Oliver Vanater Lynn Jr., son of Oliver Vanater Lynn, son of Charles Lynn, son of William Lynn and "America" Mary Elizabeth Humphrey.
Charles Lynn was the stepson of Oliver Vanater, second husband of "America" Mary Elizabeth Humphrey. His father was named after Charles Lynn's stepfather. Time to set the record straight. You will find not a single thing that supports how the middle name is currently spelled.

His great Grandmother is Mary Humphrey, known as America.
