Private, Company I, 7th US Cavalry Regiment. He was killed, along with General George A. Custer and most of the men of his unit, at the Battle of the Little Big Horn.
He enlisted on June 8, 1873, at age 22, in Breckenridge, Minnesota. He listed his previous occupation as Laborer. He had blue eyes, dark brown hair, a light complexion, and was 5 feet 6 1/2 inches tall. Initially the dead soldiers were buried where they fell, but the next year, the bodies were dug up and reburied in the mass grave on top of Last Stand Hill.
