Donald E. Bohne, age 75, of Manitowoc, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday afternoon, February 1, 2014.

Don was born April 16, 1938 in the Town of Meeme, son of the late Henry and Ella (Simonsmeier) Bohne. He was a graduate of Kiel High School with the class of 1956. Don was very proud of his tour of duty in Germany with the U.S. Army. On September 10, 1960, he was united in marriage to the former Judith A. Post at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Two Rivers. The couple resided in Manitowoc following their marriage. Judy preceded Don in death on January 23, 2014.

Don devoted 40 years of service to Lapcor Plastics as a Plastics Technician retiring as Plant Manager. He was a lifetime member of the Manitowoc Gun Club where he was active in many roles, he was also a charter member of the Wisconsin Waterfowlers Association, and a member of numerous other outdoor organizations. He enjoyed volunteering at the Farm Bureau food stand at the Manitowoc County fair. He also was very proud of his 50 years of service on the Cleveland V.F.W. Rifle Squad.

Survivors include five daughters and four sons-in-law: Linda and Steve Rozmarynowski, and Gretchen Lambries, all of Manitowoc; Jeanette and Roland Hernandez, Texas; Rachel and Patrick Ahrens, DePere; Barbara and Thomas Hanson, Sheboygan; eleven grandchildren: Sara (Mark) Ries, Ashley & Daniel Rozmarynowski, David (Eileen) Strey, Jennifer Strey and special friend Mat, Michael & Alexandra Hernandez, Kimberly Ahrens & special friend Daniel, Matthew Ahrens, Jamie Hanson & special friend Riley, Brady Hanson; five great grandchildren: Luka, Zayden, Chase, Tess & Hailey; two step great grandchildren: Jacob & Brittany; two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Eugene and Audrey Bohne, AZ; Henry and Arlene Bohne, CO; one twin sister and brother-in-law: Dorothy and William Mueller, Manitowoc; two brothers-in-law and their spouses: Francis and Janice Post, and Ron and Nancy Post, all of Manitowoc; and two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Dorothy Kochan Manitowoc; Catherine and Robert Brandt, Whitelaw. Don is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son David Allen Bohne, born and died on March 12, 1965, two sisters and brothers-in-law; LaVerne and Howard Zink, Marie and Gerald Leonhard. Don is further preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Lawrence Kochan, a sister-in-law; Eileen Gollata, mother-in-law and father-in-law; Delmar and Leona Post.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The visitation will continue from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Wednesday morning February 5, 2014 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday February 5, 2014 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be his niece, Rev. Terese Leonhard. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the V.F.W. immediately following the services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, town of Kossuth.

Donnie was a kind, gentle man who took great pride in caring for his wife Judy thru their 55 years of togetherness. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
