HUNT, LAURA CROUCH

Age 90, of Freeville, NY passed away, Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Cortland Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Hunt was born December 18, 1923 in Naples, NY and was a long time resident of Dryden and Homer until relocating to Freeville in 2007. Laura was married to Charles S. Hunt, Jr. on September 29, 1945 in Totowa Borough, NJ. Mrs. Hunt attended William Patterson College where she received her teaching certificate. Later she studied at NYU and received her Masters' Degree at Cortland State. Mrs. Hunt taught in Dryden Elementary School for 28 years. Laura was a member of the Dryden Footlighters, McLean Book Club, Southern Tier Iris Society, The Seven Valley Weavers and the Dryden Retired Teachers and had been a Girl Scout and a Girl Scout Counselor. Mrs. Hunt enjoyed traveling with a group from TC3. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Charles S. Hunt, Jr. of Freeville; her sons, Willard (Linda) Hunt of Honeoye Falls, NY and Charles L. Hunt of Freeville; grandchildren, Jessica (Chad) Sayers and Andrew Hunt; nieces, nephews and many cousins. Memorial services will be announced in the future. There are no calling hours. Burial, at the convenience of the family will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
