She was born June 14, 1922, northwest of Belgrade to James and Lena Gee, the eldest of 11 children.
She was raised in the Gallatin Valley, graduating from Belgrade High School.
In 1943, she married George Carr, who lost his life during World War II.
On Dec. 24, 1946, she married Robert L. "Bud" Payne. Upon Bud's retirement she too retired from her bookkeeper position at Coast to Coast, and in 1990, they moved to Stevensville where they spent many years tending their garden and volunteering their services to Meals on Wheels. June was a member of the Lou Lou Lodge IOOF, the Stevensville Senior Center, Jewel Chapter 48 of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliaries of Stevensville and Loup City, Neb. June enjoyed her garden, canning and sharing the fruits of her labor, but most of all she enjoyed her family and friends. They all brought great joy to her life and she to theirs. She will be greatly missed.
