Ruth Mignon "Brownie" Pate, 89, of Burlington, died at 2:30 PM Saturday, April 19, 2014, at the Burlington Care Center in Burlington.

Born April 26, 1924, in Trenton, IA, she was the daughter of Hugh and Ada Mosier Brown. On October 6, 1946, she married Kenneth Eugene Pate in West Burlington. He died April 19, 2000.

Brownie worked as a nurse prior to her marriage, then became a stay at home mom.

She was a 1942 graduate of New London High School and a graduate of Burlington Nursing School.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Sunshine Club of Mediapolis, Jane A. Delano Nurses Association, American Legion auxiliary where she enjoyed selling poppies. She was a member of Eagles and Moose ladies auxiliaries. She volunteered at the Phelps House. She loved flower gardening, teddy bears, cardinal birds, and listening to gospel music.

Beside her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Jerri K. Edewaard, and one brother Dale Brown.
