Vernon O. Green, 74, 2003 S. Mulford Road, died at 10:25 a.m., Friday, April 25, 1980, in St. Anthony Hospital as the result of injuries received in a fall in his home. Born May 26, 1905 in Curtis, Wis., son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Green. Lived 57 years in Rockford, coming here from Curtis, Wis. Married to the former Virginia Gilman in Rockton, Aug. 21, 1937; she died Dec. 19, 1975. He was a machine tool operator at Sundstrand Corp. for 25 years, retiring nine years ago. Former member of Cherry Valley Masonic Lodge. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Roberta Horn, Cherry Valley; a son, Milton Green, Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Green, Orlando, Fla.; and seven nieces and nephews.
Services at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 28, in Long-Klontz Funeral Home, 428 Park Ave., with the Rev. Horace Bressler, pastor of Flora Community Church, Flora, officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park. No visitation.
