S. E. DAVIS of SHERRILL
Sherrill – Seward E. Davis, 84, 122 Elmwood Place, died Sunday morning in Roswell Park Hospital, Buffalo where he had been a patient for four weeks.
Born in Turin, July 31, 1885, he was the son of Robert and Adelaide Kendal Davis. He was a farmer for many years in the Boonville area before moving to Vernon Venter. He had been a resident of Sherrill for 20 years.
At one time he worked at Myer's Bros Drug Store in Oneida. From 1905 until 1909 he was a member of President Theodore Roosevelt's White Fleet in the U. S. Navy. Included in the missions of this unit was a special cruise around the world in a {show of strength."
He married the former Mary Turner Oct 4, 1911in Boonville. He was a member of Sconondoa Lodge F&AM, and was a seventh Degree member of the knoxboro Grange.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Harold S. Davis, Sherrill, and E. Keith Davis, knoxboro; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
