Russell Alan Barnes, age 47, of Whitesburg, Georgia passed away on Thursday evening, August 8, 2013. He was born June 29, 1966 in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of Mrs. Barbara Turley Davis and the late Mr. Ronald Ray Barnes. He graduated from Forest Park High School, did his under graduate degree at Campbell University and received his Masters in Business Administration from Brenau University. He was a United States Army Veteran and was employed for almost fourteen years with AT & T as a network engineer. He rose to the level of team leader and coordinated people all over the world. He was a member of Christ Fellowship Church and was instrumental in establishing the technical networking support system for the church. He was a huge Central Lions fan and a longtime member of the Boosters Club. He loved music and was an outdoor enthusiast. His biggest and lifelong investment was always his family - making sure his kids were well established in the direction of their dreams. He submitted his family to Christ daily, and allowed God to use him and his wife, Angie, as spiritual leaders in the lives of their children and their community. Preceded in death by his father, Ronald Ray Barnes, he is survived by his wife of twenty four years, Angie Barnes of Whitesburg; children: Russell Connor Barnes, Jacob Andrew Barnes, Sarah Morgan Barnes, and Garrett Ray Barnes, all of Whitesburg; mother, Barbara Turley Davis of Whitesburg; mother-in-law, Ann Warnick of Carrollton; brothers and sisters: Larry Allen and Staci Woodard of Birmingham, Alabama, Linda and Mac Branch of Canton, Georgia, and Terry and Janice Smith of Whitesburg; uncles: Will and Amanda Barnes of Clemmons, North Carolina, Don Turley and Richard Lawson, both of Augusta, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Christ Fellowship Church in Carrollton, Georgia with Pastor Mark Limbaugh and Dr. Will Barnes officiating.
