Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 30, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Memorials may be made to the Clarence Ambulance or Cedar County Public Health in his memory.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 1, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, with Reverend David Mears officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa.
Roy William Baird was born June 8, 1930, in Mechanicsville, the son of James and Ada (Canaday) Baird. He graduated from Clarence High School in 1948. He married Marvella Mae Wulff on September 29, 1953, at St. John's UCC in Clarence. He was employed as a milk driver for the Clarence Creamery in Clarence. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed going to Ditto's with friends. He and Marvella mowed lawns and moved snow for several people in Clarence. He was also an avid sports fan.
Surviving are his wife, Marvella; one daughter, Kathy (Dave) Turnball of Indianola; one son, Allan (Teri) Baird of Tipton; four grandchildren, Angela (Sean) Driscoll, Tyler Baird, Sarah (Will) Downard and Megan (Kyle) Baker; six great-grandchildren, Jaclynne Driscoll, Kaylee Driscoll and Caden, Gracee, Cash and Brody Downard; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters and one brother.
