Vicki J. Reed, age 60, of rural La Porte, IN, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014, after a valiant battle with cancer at IU Health La Porte Hospital under hospice care.
She was born March 31, 1954 in Evansville, IN, to W. Garry and Johnie (Stiles) Austin.
Vicki married, on September 20, 1975, William Leslie Reed who survives.
She is also survived by her two sons, Timothy (Amy) Reed of La Porte and Jeremy Reed of South Bend; eight grandchildren, Timothy W., Daniel, Dakota, Derek, Dylan and Deanna Reed, Damen Jackson, and Brittnie Sowards; her brother, Garry Austin of La Porte; mother, Johnie Kozor of Minneapolis, MN; father and step-mother, W. Garry and Phyllis Austin of La Porte; step-sisters, Carol Kozor of Minneapolis, MN, and Nancy Kozor Niggli of Switzerland; step-brother, Mark Kozor of Minneapolis, MN; aunts, Nancy Church and Connie Austin; nieces; nephews; cousins; her husband's family; and three step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, Mitchell Kozor; step-brother, David Kozor; and her grandparents.
Vicki was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs. She enjoyed gardening and was very creative. Vicki loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She and her husband took several trips to visit lighthouses in the US.
A cremation committal has taken place per Vicki's wishes. Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center is taking care of arrangements.
A memorial celebration of life will be held at 7 pm, on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Jeff Zigler officiating.
A time of visitation with the family will be held prior to the service from 6-7 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
